Due to recent changes to the Australian ATO web site, some customers are experiencing slowness when attempting to connect to the ATO customer portal.

Type Issues experienced are:

  1. When trying to log into the portal, the page sits and spins for a long time before access is granted.
  2. Slowness connecting to the ATO portal which normally connects to site within about 5 seconds, was now sitting on a redirect for between 30-60 seconds before connecting.

Solution

Issue was found to be due to reduced MTU size required for the WAN connection.

Changing the MTU size to 1326 in the router WAN settings resolves this issue.
