In some situations you may not wish to use the inbuilt VOIP function in the Vigor2820Vn router and will be using IP phones or IPPBX that will register to SIP accounts on the Internet. When the 2820VN VOIP service is running it can cause a conflict with attached VOIP devices on the LAN. Rather than using Open Ports settings to allow these VOIP devices access the Internet it may be more convenient to disable the VOIP service in the Vigor2820Vn.
To disable VOIP service in the router, telnet to the router and run the command:
voip sip misc -D 1
The router will require a reboot.
Command syntax is:
voip sip misc [-<command> <parameter> | … ]
-D <disable>: Disable VoIP Service (1: disable, 0:enable)
System will automatic reboot to activate voip service
-v : view current settings
(To re-enable VOIP service, run the command voip sip misc –D 0)
Once rebooted telnet to the router and run the command:
voip sip misc –v
This will show the status of VOIP service as disabled
