Any ISP selling ADSL can tell if your telephone line is suitable for ADSL, or you can enter your phone number on the www.telstra.com.au website. Note that there are several restrictions on who can get ADSL service, including:
- You must be connected to an ADSL-equipped Telstra telephone exchange
- The Telstra exchange must have available ADSL lines.
- The signal loss on the users telephone line must be below a certain level (usually equivalent to approx. 4km distance from the exchange).
- Your telephone line must not go through a RIM or other sub-exchange equipment which does not support ADSL.
